| Fr.William Brennan was born in London in 1937.
He was educated at St Edmund's College Ware and was ordained
in London for the Archdiocese of Westminster in 1962. After
serving the people of London for 20 years he came to the Archdiocese
of St Andrews and Edinburgh in 1982 where he was posted to St
John the Evangelist in Portobello as assistant priest where
he remained until 1985.
From 1985 until 1988 Fr Brennan was assistant Priest at St
Francis Xaviour's Falkirk. He then came here to St Patrick's
Kilsyth in 1988 as assistant Priest to Canon
Karl Krugger and he was to witness a turbulent time in the
history of St Patrick's which co-incided with his period here.
Firstly his Parish Priest Canon Krugger was to die suddenly
and unexpectedly on 24th May 1989 shortly after Fr Brennan's
arrival in the Parish. After Canon Kruggers death
Fr Ben Doonan was appointed as the new Parish Priest in
St Patrick's and he too died suddenly and unexpectedly just
afew weeks after Fr Brennan's departure. Fr Brennan was replaced
as assistant priest by Fr
Steve Gilhooley in 1990.
Fr Brennan went onto serve a number of other Parishes notably
The Immaculate Conception in Kelso starting in 1990 after he
left Kilsyth. We think that he also served in another parish
in Fife for a short while before being admitted to hospital
in Dunfermline where he died on 20th August 2003. May he rest
in peace.
