Fr. Scott Deeley
Fr. Scott Deeley was born at Yorkhill in November 1975, the
eldest of four children.
He attended St Mary’s Primary School, Duntocher (1980-1987)
and St Columba’s Secondary School, Clydebank (1987-1993).
On finishing his secondary education he went on to read zoology
at St Andrews University, graduating in 1997 (B.Sc. (Hons).
In the same year he was accepted to train for the priesthood
for
the Archdiocese of St Andrews and commenced his studies in
philosophy and theology at the Royal Scots College, Salamanca.
Fr Deeley was ordained to the priesthood on 12th August 2004
by His Eminence Keith Patrick Cardinal O’Brien at St
Mary’s

Church, Kilsyth in September 2004. In September 2006 he was
also
appointed as curate at St. Paul’s, Milton of
Campsie and

Fr Deeley was
appointed as temporary assistant in
St Mary’s, West Calder and

When asked for a farewell message for this page, he said
simply:
‘Perhaps just to say that
starting out as a priest I could not
have wished for a better
first appointment than St Patrick’s’
Fr Tracey said of him in the newsletter:
"Fr Deeley leaves us
this week to take up his temporary appointment as assistant
in
St Mary’s, West Calder and St Thomas’s, Addiewell.
We thank him most sincerely
for all that he has accomplished in the parish these last
four years. We wish him
well in his new appointment and assure him of our prayers.
On a personal note I
would like to thank Fr Deeley for the great support he has
given to me these last
two and a half years and particularly during my illness".
It was Fr Deeley who first suggested a website for the parish
so in a way this site
is part of his legacy.
Farewells are never easy, so let's just say - we wish him well. |
NEWS - In 2010 the Pontifical North American College celebrated 150
years since its foundation by Blessed Pope Pius IX.
In January of
the same year Pope Benedict XVI graciously granted an audience to
the semianarians of the college and the
priests of its postgraduate
house (Casa Santa Maria) in the Hall of Benedictions at the Vatican.
Fr Deeley was among those
who was fortunate enought to meet the Pope
that day. |
